I’ve been reading The Shadow by Deepak Chopra, and I feel this struggle more than ever now with wanting to connect to wholeness and feeling this pull into duality. At my core “I am love”, and everything from an external point doesn’t really bring us into wholeness, because everything that is external is something that can be gained or lost and with loss comes hurt. The only true way to connect to wholeness is to connect within. We must “transcend the shadow”.
As much as I feel this need to go within, I am having very strong feelings of the opposing force, duality. This is bringing up deep seeded fears that I have: the fear of rejection, of not being good enough, of disappointing those closest to me, of upsetting anyone (which I find ironic because upsetting myself doesn’t seem to be something I’m afraid of doing, I tend to do it a lot lately), the fear of not looking good enough, the fear of being strongly judged by others (and yes I know, I am my strongest critic, we all are) and the fear of “messing” things up. I’m trying to not attach myself to these thoughts and feelings, but merely notice them. It’s tough though when these thoughts and feelings come along with strong emotions. I’m letting these strong emotions play their part and work through me. This seems to be aiding this urge to dig deep within me to find that connectedness rather than from this outside world. It doesn’t exist in the outside world, and I’m really starting to see this. Anything that seems to have brought me strong feelings of happiness and bliss that are not from within, seem to be disappointing me as of late. That run that I would go on that would make me feel so happy and energetic, is making me overwhelmed with feelings of being tired and lethargic, the haircut/color that would boost my self esteem, is making me feel more self conscious than ever, the list goes on. It’s not when I find that “perfect balance” that I will be happy, because that balance can always be thrown out of whack, therefore bringing me sadness. It is when I learn to transcend those fears and that duality into the wholeness that I will be at peace.
I encourage all of you to be as honest with yourselves as possible. Even if it’s just with the thoughts inside your head. I know that in this lifetime I’m here to eventually help each and every one of you on your path, but in order to be the best teacher, healer, friend, partner, neighbor and do-gooder, I need to really work through all of these things that cause pain and suffering in my life. I need to truly learn how to transcend them, not just avoid them. I need to “walk the talk” as authentically as possible.
Thank each and every one of you for coming here and reading this post today. I’m not afraid to put this out there to everyone, to show you ALL what’s coming up from deep inside of me. I need to be vulnerable with my thoughts, feelings and appearance, to see that these feelings can be worked through. Logically I understand this, but I need to go through the actions to make this a truth for myself. My ego may be a little bruised, but my Self will still be as strong and as beautiful as ever.
So, I started my journey on HCRV December 1st, but December 7th marks the first day I was 100%. It has been 31 days and I have no intention of looking back. It’s been really fun coming up with new creative ideas for meals like broccoli sun dried tomato pesto on zucchini “noodles”, LFRV guacamole and tonight I’m having sherbet for dinner. 5 blended frozen bananas and a few tangerines topped with fresh medjool dates. Yumm! I’ll post pictures tomorrow.
I can tell my body still has quite a ways to go with fully adjusting. All of the bad habits that I used to practice are “detoxing” out of my body. I feel really tired today, and I’m not sure if it’s due to the full moon, of this way of eating or both. Any ways I’m trying not to judge and just let it be and listen to my body. I’ve started p90x which is so much fun and I’ve been running consistently the past few weeks. I know that it’s only time before my body starts to feel like it’s in a healthy steady rhythym again.
Today is the Law of Pure Potentiality, I am absolute existence. Om Bhavam Namah
This is so perfect, as it always is, and I feel very peaceful knowing that everything will align soon enough. I am working towards something so much greater than just the physical. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and I’ll post again soon, with awesome delicious photos!
· My mother and father for laying the foundation of a beautiful family for me to be apart of. You two inspire me daily with the commitment that you have for each other. I am blown away by your capacity to radiate such a beautiful energy to all those in which you come into contact with. I am blessed to be your daughter and inspired to share this love and commitment with the family that I will one day create.
· My sisters for being true to who they are and shinning in all walks of life and touching those around them. Georgia I am so proud of the project that you created this summer. It is so beautiful to see you shinning in the work that you do, with such ease and grace. You are so beautiful and I am truly inspired by you to allow my creative energy to flow. Emma, thank you for being the gorgeous light of a young woman that you are. You bring such love and warmth into our family. I strive to take that feeling, hold it, and share it with those around me.
2. People that I look up to. Loved ones, beautiful young families.
· Jon, my life partner, I thank you for gracing me with your presence and making a commitment to walk with me, hand in hand, for the rest of this journey. I am speechless for how thankful I am for you and I am inspired by the kindness that you emit to all who you come into contact with. You have such a soft heart, filled with love, and I am eternally grateful to be able to be apart of that love.
3. Mother Nature
· Thank you for giving me life. Thank you for filling my lungs with this beautiful air that I breathe. You give me the strength each day to do the things that I love. I will be forever grateful for the beauty that you have created for us. It brings me tears of joy to be lost in this gorgeous landscape that surrounds us all.
· Music evokes such a feeling of inspiration inside of me. It makes me want to move, smile, and dance like no body’s watching. I am incredibly inspired by those in which music flows. It is incredible to see spirit flow through them and allow these beautiful sounds to be created and shared.
· Above all I am thankful for art. I believe that almost everything in life can be credited as art. The beautiful colors in nature around us, the music that fills our ears, the dance of life in which we are all apart of. Thank you to the universe for instilling this artistic need within us to create. To make paintings, to make music, to make love…
Considering that these five things are my major sources of inspiration, I plan on immersing myself in daily activities that involve these inspirations. I want to circulate this energy and feeling of joy in every aspect of my life.
One of the most beautiful things in life to me is seeing people that are full of joy. It is the happiness and love that radiates from another, which brings true inspiration in my life. I strive to be that person for people. It is my way to give back and say thank you to all of those people that have brought this light into my life; pass it on, pay it forward, give service to others.
Taking part in activities that give service to others is such a wonderful way to feel joyous. No one can take that away from you, unlike material goods. Make a commitment today to give something to someone. Whether it is a smile, a flower or even a hug. Nothing is too big or small. And in return accept the gifts that are being offered to you. Only when we allow the energy to flow through all areas of life will be surrounded by abundance and happiness. Imagine life as a river, it is constantly moving. Even if there is a rock in the water, the power of the river will move it along. So don’t allow the energy in your life to become stagnate. Allow it to flow and bring things into your life in which bring service and happiness to you.
In the training that I am undergoing with the Chopra Center, I am learning about the asanas and the history of yoga, as well adding a modern element to it. As a student of the Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga, I learn one law per day. The course works in conjunction with the Seven Spiritual Laws, a book written by Deepak Chopra. This commitment that you will make today builds on the Law of the Day, which for Tuesday is the Law of Giving and Receiving.
So now, I ask you to make a list, of all the things and people that inspire you most. And make a commitment to yourself to be surrounded by these inspirations as often as possible. Allow that inner light within you to shine.

Wednesday - The Law of Least Effort Om Daksham Namah
The Law of Least Effort states that nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease. Take a look at the ebb and flow of the ocean or when the flowers bloom in the spring time, you don’t see nature straining. There is rhythm and balance in the natural world, and when you are in harmony with nature, you can make use of the Law of Least Effort by minimizing your effort and maximizing your benefits.
Nature is held together by the energy of love, and least effort is expended when your actions are motivated by love. When your soul is your internal reference point, you can harness the power of love and use the energy creatively for healing transformation and evolution.
During your yoga practice today practice acceptance, accept your body the way it is. Although you may have intentions for it to change, it is exactly the way that it is supposed to be right now. So give up your need to struggle by accepting this moment. By acknowledging each situation as it exists, you are in the best position to help evolve to a new level.
Sunday - The Law of Pure Potentiality: Om Bhavam Namah
Today governs the first law of success, the Law of Pure Potentiality. This states that at the core of our beings we are pure awareness. And in this realm of pure awareness is the domain of infinite possibilities and underlies creativity in all its forms. Our spiritual essence is pure consciousness and the source of all joy in our lives. This realm is the home of knowledge, intuition, balance, harmony and bliss. At our core we are pure potentiality.
The witness of this experience is our true Self. To experience the Self is to have our soul as our internal reference point. This is opposite of self-referral or “object-referral”, which means that we are influenced by what is happening outside of our true Self. In object referral we are constantly needing approval of others and the accumulation of “things” in order to feel comfortable and worthy. This is a fear-based state of being.
In object referral our ego is our internal reference. The ego, however, is not who we truly are. The ego is the roles that we play throughout our lives. At one moment we will be the sister, and in the presence of our parents the child. In the presence of our supervisor we play one role and when we are speaking as the supervisor we adopt yet another.
This social mask thrives on approval, strives to control and is sustained by power. Your true Self, your soul, is completely free of these things. Your soul recognizes at its deepest level that everyone else is the same Self in different disguises. During the practice of yoga, the Law of Pure Potentiality reminds us that every moment emerges from the silent field of infinite possibility. The more powerful the silence the more effective the movement. Every movement is a vibration, a wave in the ocean of life. The deeper connection to the depths of the ocean the more powerful the waves arises.
Today let us shift into the role of the witness. Observe from the inner stillness of your soul the dynamic activity of the world around you. Take time to commune with nature, whether it be to smell a flower, walk in a meadow or watch the sun set. Through this commune with nature, you will experience joy and reverence for the eternal movement of life in all its manifestations. Practice non-judgement. So while performing your yoga poses today bring your attention back to the silent space between each movement. Begin your session today with, “Today I shall judge nothing that occurs”, and remind yourself that self acceptance if the source and goal of yoga. Non-judgement cultivates silence in the mind, which gives you direct access to the field of pure potentiality.
-7 Spiritual Laws of Yoga (study guide)
Today is the Law of Karma - Om Kriyam Namah
Every action that we partake in creates a reaction. If that action is created with the intention of love and success, then we will in turn generate a force energy that will return to us with love and success… as we sow we reap.
There is a large misconception that karma imprisons us in a cycle of unending reactivity, where as it is actually an assertion of human freedom. We are all infinite choice makers, so let us make those choices consciously. When we make choices unconsciously, we may not think that they are choices - and yet, they are. So, let’s step back and become the witness in our choice making today to ensure that each choice will create happiness for us and those around us. When you make that one nourishing choice it nourishes you as well everyone else influenced by that action.
In your yoga practice today consciously move through each posture, being aware of every movement. Make sure that each pose that you move into is the most nourishing for your body and mind. When you move gracefully into the limits of each pose with gentleness and finesse, your body/mind responds with effortlessness and ease. If the day after your yoga session your body is sore, it is most likely that you were ignoring the Law of Karma.
Listen to your heart for guidance and be guided by its message of comfort or discomfort. Your heart is the junction point between your mind and body. Honoring the guidance provided by your body’s intelligence you will make the most evolutionary choices for yourself and those in your life.
Sunday governs the last law of the week, the Law of Dharma, or purpose in life.
Om Varunam Namah - My life is in harmony with cosmic law.
Each one of us has a set of specific individual talents. There is a place in this world for each and every one of us and our unique gifts. So if you aren’t very clear of why you are here or what your unique gifts are, ask. Sit quietly and ask out loud to the universe to show you signs and help to point you in the direction of your life purpose. You will know when you are on your path…there won’t be one, because it is yours, made by you, walked along by you and no one else.
"Purse the god or goddess inside you that wants to express the sacred purpose for which you were born." - Deepak Chopra
How perfect to have the Law of Detachment follow the Law of Intention and Desire. So know that we have planted the seeds of our deepest desires, let’s leave them be, give them love, and watch them manifest. Now remember that we must keep our intentions, desires and goals in mind, but surrender to the outcome.
*Om Anandham Namah* My actions are blissfully free to attachment to outcome.
Attachment is based on fear and insecurity. When you forget that the only genuine source of security is your true self, you begin believing that you need something outside yourself in order to be happy. Unfortunately, whenever your happiness is based upon something other than your true Self, insecurity arises because you know at a deep level of your being that whatever is bringing you happiness can be lost and therefore, has the potential to bring you pain.
According to the principles of yoga, the only true security comes from your willingness to embrace the unknown, the real of uncertainty. By being open to what is happening, rather than attempting to control how things unfold, you experience the excitement, adventure, exhilaration, and mystery of life.
Now that we have let the universe pull us in the direction that is most beneficial for us with us exerting the least amount of effort, let us put our attention on our intentions today, the Law of Intention and Desire. The quantum field, which is really just another name for energy and information, is greatly influenced by intention and desire. If we recognize that our physical human bodies are not separate from the universe we can put our attention and intention on changing the energy and information of both - your bodies and your world. Attention enlivens while intention transforms.
Ever wonder why we never get a parking spot when we think we will never get a parking spot? Try to counteract these thoughts today with intentions and desires that are beneficial for us and those around us. And to go a little deeper think right down your deepest intentions and desires today, write them out in the morning, so your attention is focused on what you really want/need today and maybe even out of this lifetime. Your intention has organizing power, so let’s plant these seeds and watch them manifest into what the universe knows is best for us. Now that we have planted these seeds of desire, let’s not dig them up, instead let us have trust in the universe and surrender the outcome to nature.
